Karl Fisch is good at putting together no-holds-barred explorations of the relevance (or lack thereof) of the current education system. He collects data and puts it into context. His “Did you know?” presentation a while back was scary! This 2020 vision presentation is designed to take a look at what might change in education over the next 13 years. It is put together as if it is already 2020 and the speaker is looking back over the school careers of the children who will graduate that year. It is true that Karl looks at things from a US perspective, but surely we will be subject to the same drivers here. After all, we are working towards the flat world society, and remote access is likely to mean that our kids will be competing for jobs in a world-wide field, rather than a local one. We can’t afford to get left behind. We can’t afford to continue to teach our children material they will not need or to fail to teach them skills they will need on a daily basis.

Bush and the Republicans were not protecting us on 9-11, and we aren’t a lot safer now. We may be more afraid due to george bush, but are we safer? Being fearful does not necessarily make one safer. Fear can cause people to hide and cower. What do you think? Is killing thousands of innocent civilians okay when you are doing a little government makeover?
Comment byWhat happened to us, people? When did we become such lemmings?
We have lost friends and influenced no one. No wonder most of the world thinks we suck. Thanks to what george bush has done to our country during the past three years, we do!
With an email address and a pseudonym like yours, you leave little doubt as to your feelings. And of course, your opinion is your own and you are entitled to it. However, since you appear to be based in Russia, I am surprised that you define yourself so strongly in terms of your feelings about the American president. It seems a little limiting to me. Bear in mind that this is a blog dedicated to education – in particular, to one person’s journey through a post graduate programme in England. In light of this, you might not have chosen the best platform to reach the people whose opinions you wish to inform with your views.
